At the Junior League of Wilmington, we live in the moment. To us, that means adjusting our focus according to our community’s most pressing needs. Our work is always evolving, and that keeps us on our toes, striving for progress, and preparing to take on whatever comes next.

Our goal is to help Wilmington women develop civic leadership skills through the work they do, then put those talents to work in the communities that need it. Our current focus of Building Better gives women opportunities to grow, while positively impacting the communities where they live and work.

Our League of leaders creates real change by advancing social activism-focused projects that directly benefit the communities of Delaware. By giving women the tools to lead, educating them about their communities’ needs, and helping them put their unique brand of creativity and skill to work, the Junior League of Wilmington is making a big impact.

No matter what we’re currently focusing on, the Junior League of Wilmington’s work centers around improving our local communities through effective action and leadership. We have identified support of non-profits and service volunteers as the most pressing issue in our community right now, and we are helping local women take action to resolve it.

For over a century, the Junior League of Wilmington (JLW) has been instrumental in meeting current community needs.

Our focus area shifts as pressing priorities are identified, but our commitment to building a better community and training our members to lead and serve never wavers.

In August 2019, the JLW announced their latest campaign addressing Period Equity, Stand Up. Period.  The League is committed to raising awareness of period equity in Wilmington and working towards ensuring individuals have affordable programs that provide period supplies.

Why Stand Up. Period.? 

We are standing up because we think that people deserve equitable access to period supplies. No one should miss out on life – school, sports, activities, work – because they lack the means for adequate pads and tampons.
